Reality, 'tis a diverging tale
With odds and ends and seeming shades
Covering, the lies, the folly and nay
Hiding that which begs the day,
Holding upon, the precious shards
Of memories, of fading visions
Of light, 'ere the unending mission.
Speaker, then proceeded forth
The fifth in line, the fifth to speak
The fifth to withdraw, the foremen's fate
The fifth in time, to hold the faith
Of nay one but all that bade him be
Nay one but all, who bade him leave.
Futile, vile and most free of all
What say thou of fading mist?
Of bygone era? Of the Golden Age?
What say thou of the ancient land,
The ancient dream,
We made to be?
Speaker 'ere,forthwith didst speak
Midst mountain men, midst straining ears
And speak he did, with might of years
Reminisced in distant fears
Fondly left in search of they,
They that left in seeking old,
Nay silver, nay precious stones,
Nay diamonds, nay olden gold
Spake he, the fifth in line
Of visions sought and that which binds
The sempiternal essence
Of human life.
For 'ere midst the creatures tall, stood one
Merely, unfortunately
Forlorn.
